    When Oreo assured Twitter users that they could still dunk in the dark during the 2013 Super Bowl blackout, this tweet became one of the most buzzworthy moments of the whole game.     These hashtags had limited usability yet brands of all sizes worked hard to tap into the potential for widespread engagement and exposure, while maintaining the relevancy to their target audiences.


    Brands such as World Cup sponsors, Adidas and Coca-Cola, planned full length campaigns, while Snickers focused on key moments of the games like the Suarez biting incident.

    2. Cut the procession line and increase reaction times of the relevant departments - make sure the appropriate team members are on hand to give sign off on posts.
    3. Produce value adding content that stands out from the crowd - Remember: for every brand that gets noticed, there are dozens more that are ignored
    4. Ensure brand values are adaptable - from six second vines, to 140 character tweets, to image-led sites such as Pinterest and Instagram
    5. Customers expect immediacy and relevance, so ensure you deliver it
