What makes a winner? Find out at the Hospice in the Weald Torchlight Dinner
Double Olympic gold winner Dame Kelly Holmes is limbering up for the Torchlight Dinner - Hospice in the Weald's 2012 black-tie corporate dinner - where she is the special guest speaker. Dame Kelly will be sharing her experiences of what makes a winner and how sport can provide people with inspiration at Hever Castle on Friday 24 February.
Local girl, Dame Kelly, has been a supporter of Hospice in the Weald for many years. The charity is close to her heart, as her coach Dave Arnold died at the Hospice two years to the day that she won her 1500m Gold Medal in Athens.
"I always believe in helping others and what Hospice in the Weald does to help patients and their families get through what could be the worst time in their life is unbelievable," says Dame Kelly.
The Tunbridge Wells branch of Handelsbanken and the award-winning accountancy firm Creaseys, also based in Tunbridge Wells, are headline sponsors for the event, while Brolley is sponsoring the Champagne Reception.
The event is being held in association with The Marketing Eye and boasts a packed programme of entertainment, including the popular comedian Scott Charlton as MC and well-know magician Lee Burridge, with his amazing interactive magic.
Guests will be able to bid on some amazing ‘money can't buy' auction prizes, including a VIP day out at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show; lunch for six at Coutts in London; fishing at Castle Forbes in Scotland; dinner for six in your own home, cooked by Hari Covert; and tank driving and afternoon tea at Newick Park. There will also be a silent auction with donations from Chilstone and Knowle Grange Health Spa, among others.
A highlight of the evening is a raffle with a grand prize of an overnight stay for two in the penthouse of the stunning Corinthia Hotel in London, including dinner for two in The Northall, breakfast and two one-hour spa treatments.
"We are thrilled with the exciting auction prizes which have been donated this year," says Rachel Holweger. "Hopefully, guests will dig deep into their pockets and we'll raise even more money than last year for a charity rooted in this community and relevant to so many."
