The art of good design

The visual elements of your business, including your logo, graphics, web site and printed marketing materials send very strong messages to your prospective customers about your business and your brand. Great design in marketing terms brings out the personality of your business, communicating not only what you do, but how you do it.
5 tips for finding a great graphic designer:
1. Look for marketing know how, not just artistic skill. A good designer should be able to clearly articulate the goal of each piece
2. Meet face to face. Beware of an agency that suggests it can communicate with you entirely on-line
3.Ask to see examples of previous work. Does it look professional and show versatility?
4. Ask for testimonials from previous clients
5. Check both the cost and the fee structure. Will you be charged an hourly rate or a flat fee? How many rounds of amends are included? Stay within your budget, but be prepared to pay for quality

Van Gogh knew a thing or two about design

But get this: good, consistent design can mean increased sales, increased market share and more profits!

According to research, 74% of rapidly growing businesses identify design as being a major contributor to profitability.

Like so many aspects of your business you don't have to know how to create good design, but you do need to know how to buy it: have a look at our 5 top tips on the left.
You can expect your designer to have a firm grasp of the creative elements, but it's up to you to provide a clear and effective brief. A good brief will help the designer to understand your business and your vision. It will also help you assess the finished result: ask yourself "does this fulfil my brief?"

Design is an important ingredient in any business marketing plan. Great branding with great design can increase the value of your business overnight.

Best wishes
