The Marketing Eye backs Uckfield Business Awards

uckfield_business_awards_logoThe Marketing Eye is providing its resources and backing to the inaugural Uckfield Business Awards, which are to culminate in a presentation ceremony on Thursday 1 November at the East Sussex National Hotel.

The brain child of Uckfield Chamber of Commerce committee member, Adrian Corbin, the awards are designed to recognise and celebrate the diversity and achievements of the Uckfield business community.

Adrian approached The Marketing Eye managing director, Neil Edwards, for his thoughts and backing following his involvement with the judging of The Marketing Eye's Young Business Minds competition in July 2011.  "I could see that Neil and his team knew exactly how to organise and promote an excellent event and felt that, with his support, the Awards would be a success" said Adrian.

Neil and Adrian worked out the basic structure of the Awards and presented the idea to a meeting of the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce in late summer.  The concept received unanimous support and offers of sponsorship quickly came forward.

The awards will be open to all businesses in the Uckfield area covering the post code districts of TN22 and BN8.  There are 14 awards and the categories have been chosen to make sure there is something for every business.  Awards range from Business of the Year to customer service and contribution to the community.

Adrian Corbin said: "We hope businesses will tell us about their achievements and take advantage of the opportunity offered by the Uckfield Business Awards to promote their activity".

The Awards will be officially launched at an event to be held at Marco Pierre White's Chequers in Maresfield on 28 February.  The mayor of Uckfield, chairman of Wealden District Council and Chairman of East Sussex County Council are among those who will attend.

Wealden MP, Charles Hendry, commented: "I am delighted that Uckfield businesses are being recognised with the launch of these awards.  Our local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities and those in Uckfield have constantly worked to stay ahead of the game during these difficult economic times.  Their dedication has resulted in Wealden having very high levels of employment".

Neil Edwards said: "I had no hesitation in offering our full support and backing to the Uckfield Business Awards.  We are active members of the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce and the Awards are a natural extension of our ongoing commitment to give something back to the community in which we work.  We will bring all of our experience and resources to bear to make sure the Awards, in their inaugural year, are an outstanding success and create a platform for the awards to continue for many years to come".

Businesses who have confirmed their support with sponsorship include: Parker Building Supplies; Swindells, Armida, Scientifica, Knibbs Computer Services, TR Fastenings, itmsoil; Rix & Kay; Lawson Commercial; Carvills; Dawson Hart; Parker Ceilings; The Picture House; Private Wealth Management; Lloyds TSB; Waitrose; Superior Glass; Clearwater; Edward Baden; Waremoss; Highlands Inn; Crockstead Farm Hotel and Auditel.
