Good to hear that the pre-eminent pioneers of P2P lending in the UK are receiving formal recognition for their outstanding achievements.

Described an a ‘Peer to Peer and Financial Inclusion Innovator’, the latest is Rhydian Lewis, the co-founder and CEO of RateSetter, who has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s 2017 Birthday Honours List “for his services to financial services.”

RateSetter, which only started life in 2010, has facilitated over £2bn of loans to a combination of consumers and small business borrowers. The company was the first to create a Provision Fund to protect lenders from loan defaults and has always focused on creating a market where retail investors can access returns from lending easily and simply.

Zopa Chairman and co-founder Giles Andrews and Samir Desai, co-founder and CEO of Funding Circle, received an OBE and CBE respectively in the 2015 New Year’s Honours list.
