ROCC: New Forest District Council selects Uniclass

New Forest District Council has awarded ROCC a five year contract for the supply and implementation of the Uniclass Contractor Management System, through a OJEU (the Official Journal of European Union) tendering process.

New Forest District Council is one of the largest non-unitary authorities in the UK and the Council's vision is to be an outward looking organisation, working closely with the community. Key to this is improving the services it offers customers, through delivering services and managing resources efficiently.

The Council's Building Works team has grown over the past few years and this has meant that services previously undertaken by external contractors have been brought back in-house, including gas servicing, reactive repairs, electrical testing and inspection, bathroom refurbishments and heating installations. The Building Works team now includes 59 tradesmen, 11 surveying roles and an admin support team of six staff, as well as a regular bank of agency tradesmen.

"During this period of growth, systems used to run the business have not changed significantly," says Fiona Hughes, Service Level Manager, New Forest District Council. "Investment in new systems was therefore considered necessary to modernise service delivery, achieve further efficiencies and improve service delivery to tenants."

The ROCC solution is designed to improve the efficiency of social housing repairs and maintenance, by the effective use of resources, and reducing administration and paperwork. Management information will now be produced in a timely and appropriate way and job costing will allow a comprehensive evaluation of best value.

"After a thorough evaluation and tender exercise, we selected the ROCC Uniclass system," says Fiona Hughes. "This was our preferred system, due to its easy to navigate screen layout, usefulness of mobile and scheduling functionality and ROCC's overall approach to project management and implementing the system."

The solution comprises ROCC's Uniclass Repairs and Maintenance system, including the new generation Uniclass Mobile Working solution. This allows tradesmen to receive work using a mobile device, while in the field, thus helping to reduce unnecessary travel by operatives and make the most efficient use of their time.

The ROCC solution will integrate with existing corporate systems, to allow information to be shared, thus reducing any duplication of data.

"We are looking forward to working with ROCC in implementing the system," says Fiona Hughes.

Adds Chris Potter, Director of Uniclass: "We are delighted to have been awarded this contract and are excited about working with the staff at New Forest District Council."
